Seattle Sales Tax Rate Changes




Effective April 1, 2021, the City of Seattle will establish a Transportation Benefit District (TBD). Sales and use tax within the City of Seattle will increase fifteen-one hundredths of one percent (.0015). The tax will be used for transportation services. Businesses must collect the appropriate new rate of sales tax for retail sales and services provided within the City of Seattle (1726). Persons or businesses within the City of Seattle will be subject to the new rate of use tax on items purchased for their personal or business use if sales tax has not been paid. The new rate of sales tax is 10.25%.


Business owners should make the appropriate changes to point of sale and accounting systems.
